Load Management System - LMS
The Load Management System (LMS) operates on a radio control system that is managed by Dairyland Power Cooperative. The LMS controls water heaters, electric heat, air conditioning systems, grain drying systems, or other large controllable loads. The LMS is used to help keep energy purchase costs down, which helps to keep the cooperative's rates stable.
When it gets very cold or very hot the LMS is operated so that Dairyland does not have to buy very expensive energy to bring you the electricity you need. Our members along with thousands more cooperative members from the 25 other Dairyland System cooperatives will use the LMS together to keep the cost down.
As a member you benefit several ways, either by receiving a credit on your electric bill because we control your hot water heater or air conditioning, or by special electric rates because of us controlling your electric heat.
The LMS system is a solution that truly comes out of doing things the cooperative way, working together to keep cost as low as possible.
