The Youth Leadership Program (YLC) is in its fortieth year of providing rural youth an opportunity to learn about electric cooperatives, along with other important information about cooperatives in general. The program brings in national and local speakers to talk about leadership roles and activities that they might see themselves providing in their future. Because this is a leadership program participant from the previous year’s program are the ones who setup and run the following year’s program. The YLC delegates decide who the speakers will be and what kind of activities the new YLC participants will encounter. This event is run by our youths and setup by them, it’s truly a youth leadership program.

The program takes place at the UW – River Falls Campus. Participants will have 3-days and 2-nights of fun with lots of learning opportunities and the prospect to make friends from other students from around our state. Clark Electric ask the local FFA and/or FBLA advisors from the area schools to choose our student representatives.

The students that participate have many more opportunities such as scholarships, and the chance to be one of next year teen leaders. The YLC youth board has the occasion to travel to Washington D.C. to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Days, which is a fun weeklong trip with more history on our nation and the cooperatives way of live as it centers around our great nation.
